Top Ten Reasons
You Need a Proofreader

We know you’re brilliant, you know you’re brilliant. But if your
writing isn’t clear, well-organized and doesn’t flow in a logical manner,
your audience may not see your brilliance. We let your brilliance shine forth.
We edit your work for clarity and flow. You may know your subject very well,
but have difficulty explaining it to an audience unfamiliar with your topic.
You may overlook what appears obvious to you but is essential for a reader’s
understanding. Perhaps your paper is filled with industry jargon or with too
many acronyms that are indecipherable to outsiders. We ask you who your
audience is, and we copyedit accordingly. We won’t let your readers be
distracted by careless mistakes or overlooked details.
-
Spell checkers will not find words spelled correctly but wrongly used.
Relying on your spell checker may cause you to bypass "and" for
"an", "by" for "bye" or "buy", or
"from" when you mean "form". Do you know
"affect" from "effect"? Grammar checkers often suggest
changes inappropriate for the context. We understand your context; we know
the exceptions to all the rules. Only a professional proofreader can tell
the difference.
-
As you read over your document to proof it, eye fatigue sets in and more
and more you see only what you expect to see, rather than what’s actually
there. Knowing what you meant to say, often you don’t see that it is not
there. Proofing your own work can be difficult. Particularly if you are
exhausted from writing, reading, and re-writing over and over. We can help. We
are available 24 hours, 7 days a week. We never get tired.
-
A native speaker of American Standard English can be an asset to writers
for whom English is a second language who, in following literal or by-the-book
rules of grammar, may not recognize what American readers perceive as errors,
or worse, may create unintentional humor. Our staff all speak American
English as a first language and have extensive experience as writers and
editors.
-
Create a great first impression. Your document is your presentation to your
audience, and often, is your only contact or introduction to them. A client’s
only yardstick for how well you will do his work is how well you do your work.
Typos and bad grammar give the impression of sloppiness. You wouldn’t go to
an important meeting looking unkempt; don’t send your document out without
proofreading. We help you create a great impression.
-
Appear better than you are. Not detail oriented? We are. Not a
perfectionist? We are. Not anal? We are. Not sure of particular rules of
grammar? We are; and we will make you look polished, professional and
thorough. Even if you are not.
-
Unclear writing irritates and
distances the reader. If a reader has to work hard to figure out your
meaning, you lose them. Your goal is not to annoy and frustrate. You want
your writing to draw the reader into your point of view, and to be clear,
logical and convincing. We help you give the reader the "Wow! That
was great!" feeling.
-
Every Monday night on the Tonight Show, Jay Leno reads headlines with typos
or juxtapositions that make them quite funny. Don’t become an unintentional
laughing stock by your writing. We won’t let your document embarrass you.
-
You are a professional at what you do; trust a professional to polish your
presentation and make you shine. We know the most commonly made errors, but
our trained eyes also easily catch the unusual errors that may be unique to
your subject matter. We have over 20 years experience.
-
We are insurance for you
and we’re cheaper than losing that big
account or that big client.
-
So you slept through grammar, and punctuation is boring. Let us do it for
you. We are easy to work with. Just email your document, tell us
your level of service desired, and we’ll send you back an Order Acceptance and begin work.
We’re anal, we’re obsessed, and we like this stuff! We can make you look
good in print.
